The Time is Short!

“Living in Light of the LAST DAYS”

Matthew 24:32-41

“The coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah…” Jesus  (Mt. 24:37)

I.  How Soon Will It Be?  (24:32-34)

Jesus taught in ____________ to both conceal and reveal Truth. cf.  Matt. 13:10-17; Mk. 4:9-12 This parable involved the ________ tree which was very common in Israel.      cf.  Lk. 21:29-31 Jesus Christ is “the King of kings” so when He comes, the ______________ will come too!   i.e.  Kingdom is near!     Don’t miss the word “________________” in verse 33. The phrase “this ______________”(v. 34) is quite confusing but could very possibly mean the people living at the time “the signs” (vv. 29-31) occur.   i.e.  “all these things” (2X)

II.  Can We Really Trust You?  (24:35)

FYI – The __________, as we know it, is “passing away!”

cf.  Matt. 5:18; 2 Pet. 3:10; 1 Jn. 2:17; Rev. 21:1

Jesus’ words, though, are as ________ and relevant today as they were when he first spoke them.   cf. Jn. 10:35

III. Who Will Know For Sure?  (24:36-41)

The ___________ time period of Jesus return will be known from “birth pangs” and “signs,” but the exact “day and hour,” no one will know “but the Father alone.”

i.e. Not Harold Camping!

Jesus voluntarily laid aside the _____________ use of His divine attributes in submission to the Father. (Phil. 2:6-7) When Jesus said that His coming will be “just like the days of Noah,” He simply meant that people will be very _______________ and unconcerned about the things of the Lord. People today will look everywhere for __________ except to the Word of God!      cf.  2 Tim. 3:7

Practical Application:

  1. It’s OK to long for His Coming!  (Rev. 22:7,10,12,20)
  2. Wash your robes!   (Rev. 7:14; 22:14-15; 2 Pet. 3:11,14)

Appointments with God

Matthew 24:32-41

Monday, August 15th

Meditate upon the Corrupt World in Noah’s Day:

  • Genesis 6:1-5, 11-12

Check out a good Study Bible on what v. 4 is talking about.  How corrupt was the world compared to today?  Pray for unbelievers in this world to see their own depravity & turn to Jesus for rescue!

Tuesday, August 16th

Meditate upon the Depth of Man’s Depravity:

  • Genesis 6:5

Is man really  that bad?  Are your thoughts “only evil continually?  Spend time in confession of sin and repentance before God.  Allow Him to search your heart and mind.

Wednesday, August 17th

Meditate upon the Favor of God:

  • Genesis 6:8-9, 22

How significant are the words, “Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord?”  How does that happen?  Pray for God to give you a humble heart of obedience to Him!

Thursday, August 18th

Meditate upon the Coming of the Son of Man:

  • Matthew 24:37-39

What might Jesus mean by “eating & drinking, marrying & giving in marriage?”  Are these sinful?  He meant people were just concerned about their own appetites & pleasures & indifferent toward God.  Seek the Lord & pray for revival & spiritual awakening in M-town!!

Friday, August 19th

Meditate upon the Longing for the Lord’s Return:

  • Revelation 22:7

Notice Jesus Himself said He is “coming quickly.”  There is blessing connected to “heeding” God Word.  Ask God for a greater hunger for His Word in your life!

Saturday/Sunday, Aug. 20-21

Meditate upon the Longing for the Lord’s Return:

  • Revelation 22:10-15, 20

Notice the words “the time is near.”(v. 10)  3 times Jesus says He is “coming quickly.”(vv. 7,12,20)  Is there one person you have been praying for to come to Christ? Take opportunity to share Christ with them today!
