Grace Church Children’s Ministry

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving” (Col. 2:6-7).

It’s our heart that children would grow in their faith, beginning from the earliest stages of life, through regular and consistent exposure to and study of God’s Word. The word “walk” refers to living a life patterned after Christ’s. This can only come about by studying and understanding His Word and His life. We call our children’s ministry ROOTed because we desire to root our children in God’s Word, so they grow mature in their faith and deeply thankful for God’s grace.

We know that this cannot happen through the discipleship efforts of the church alone.  Dad and Mom play the pivotal roles in seeing mature faith in our children come to fruition. Deuteronomy 6:7 says of God’s words, “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

Primary responsibility to disciple children rests squarely on the parent’s shoulders, and we know that can be challenging! Our children’s ministry seeks to come alongside and resource parents to make disciples in the home. Here are a few ministries that serve as our starting point.

Seedlings (birth-5 years)

This ministry offers nursery during our worship service for children from birth to 5 years of age.  During the Sunday school hour, an age appropriate study of God’s Word is offered for children from 2 to 5 in our Toddler (2’s and 3’s) and PreK (4’s and 5’s) classes.

ROOTed (k-4th)

From kindergarten through fourth grade, children “build up” their faith by studying Scripture guided by “The Gospel Project” curriculum on Sunday mornings from 9-10am.

The Vine (4-6th)

The Vine is our ministry to Pre-Teens (4th, 5th and 6th graders). The Vine meets on Sunday mornings from 9-10am and on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8pm. We seek to help pre-teens to see the relevance of Scripture in their lives, while guiding them to a faith that is distinctly their own, based on God’s Word, and which bears the good fruit of a life genuinely transformed by Jesus Christ.
