Mark 2:1-17

             “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to

                serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”   Mk. 10:45

I.  Forgiveness to a Paralytic   (Mk. 2:1-13)

Capernaum had become “_______” or the hub of Jesus’

ministry.  (v. 1)      i.e.  Near-Eastern hospitality

NOTE – As so many people gathered together around

Jesus, He spoke the _______ to them! (v. 2) cf. 1:38

Jesus grants forgiveness of sins to the paralyzed man

The Scribes & Pharisees accused Jesus of blasphemy!

To prove that He was God & could forgive sin, He went

ahead & _________ the paralytic!  (vv. 8-12)

The response was great & all gave glory to God!(v. 12-13)

 

II. Fellowship with a Tax-Collector (Mk. 2:14-17)

Jesus passed by ______, a tax-collector sitting in his

tax booth. (v. 14)      i.e.  Matthew (Matt. 9:9)

FYI – Tax-collectors were _______ by fellow Jews!

Levi began to follow Jesus & he invited _______ fellow

tax-collectors & friends to dine with Him! (v. 15)

The Scribes & Pharisees again challenged Jesus because

of His ________ association with sinners! (v. 16)

The reason Christ came to call the “sick” or sinners to

repentance is that they recognize their ________

& are responsive to His message. (v. 17)
