Mark 13:1-37

             “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”   Mk. 10:45

I.  LAST DAY’S Kingdom Character (13:1-37)

1. Be on Guard  (13:1-8)

After the disciples commented on the ______ of the

Temple, Jesus announced it’s coming destruction!

cf.  Mk. 13:1-2; 11:15-18; Mt. 19:43-44; 23:38; Lk. 21:20

As Jesus addressed His disciples ________, they asked

Him when it would happen & what the sign would be.

This “Olivet Discourse” begins with a prediction of a

future time of __________ & desolation! (vv. 5-8)

“Birth pangs” seem to suggest increased _________ &

intensity. (v. 8)   i.e.  “the beginning…”  cf. 1 Th. 5:3

2. Be Bold  (13:9-13)

Jesus said to expect increasing opposition & _______.

These experiences of believers will be “________

opportunities.”(vv. 9-11)  i.e. persecution->proclamation

NOTE – the phrases “for My sake”(v. 9) & “because of

My name”(v. 13).    Key = Endurance (Heb. 10:32-39)

3. Be Strong  (13:14-23)

The “Abomination of Desolation” comes from the book

of Daniel & many believe it refers to the ________.

cf.  Dan. 9:27; 11:31; 12:11; Rev. 13-14

This seems to mark a Turning Point in the future

                    “___________” period when conditions on earth will

be the worst they’ve ever been! (vv. 15-20)

NOTE – God’s protection of “the _______.” (vv. 20,22)

4. Be Alert  (13:24-37)

The _______ of this period of Judgment will be

terrifying signs in the heavens & the Glorious Return

of Jesus Christ! (vv. 24-27)   cf.  Lk. 21:25-28

This discourse of Jesus with His disciples ended with

2 parables that stressed their need to be ______!

NOTE – the repetition of “you do not know!”(vv. 32-35)
