Mark 1:29-45

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”   Mk. 10:45

I.  Caring for the CROWDS   (Mk. 1:29-34)

From the synagogue, Jesus went “immediately” to the

home of _________ & Andrew. (v. 29)

Jesus shows ___________ care to Simon’s mother-in-

law by healing her of her high fever.  cf.  Lk. 4:38

Jesus demonstrates His power over ___________ in

addition to demons.      cf.  1:23-27, 32

After this, Jesus is totally ________________ with

the physical & spiritual needs of masses of people!

i.e.  “kept on bringing”

 

II. Needing to be ALONE   (Mk. 1:35-39)

After such a busy day, it is amazing that Jesus is so

_____________ to get up “early” to pray! (v. 35)

Luke emphasizes that “crowds were searching for Him &

tried to _______ Him from prayer!   cf.  Lk. 4:40-42

Times of solitude & prayer seem to be a __________

that Christ modeled.  cf.  Mk. 6:31-32, 45-46; Lk. 5:16

Jesus clearly knew His ministry _____________! (v. 38)

 

III. Healing of a LEPER   (Mk. 1:40-45)

Now a leper humbly approaches Jesus to be _________.

cf.  Lev. 13:45-46; Lk. 5:12 (“full of leprosy”)

Jesus was “moved with compassion” & the amazing part is

that He __________ the leper!

The leper was immediately healed & Jesus ________ him

to tell no one about it, but he proclaimed it freely!

Practical Application

  1. The Whole City – Mk. 1:33
  2. A Secluded Place – Mk. 1:35; Lk. 5:16
  3. Be Cleansed – Mk. 1:41
