Mark 10:1-12

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”   Mk. 10:45

I.  Jesus’ Source of AUTHORITY  (10:1-8)

It was Jesus’ _________ to teach the crowds & to train

The Pharisees challenged Jesus regarding marriage and

Jesus answers them by referring them to Moses & then

II.  Jesus’ Sanctity of MARRIAGE  (10:5-12)

Jesus tells the Pharisees that the reason Moses permitted

divorce was because of people’s _________ of heart.

cf.  Deut. 22:22; 24:1-4; Mt. 19:7-8 – willfully disobey

In other words, divorce ________ publically, what is going

on privately.    i.e.  the law makes sin visible (Rom. 3:20)

Divorce was a very ___________ subject among the Jews

of which there were 2 primary schools of thought.

i.e.  Rabbi Hillel and Rabbi Shammai

FYI – Your attitude toward divorce says everything about

The prevalence of Divorce & the perversion of Same-Sex

Marriages is a blaring _______ for the believer!

In Mark 10:6-12, Jesus gives 3 Vital Components to a

God-Glorifying Understanding of Marriage:

1)      God’s Design (v. 6) – “male & female” = _________

2)     God’s Purpose (vv. 7-9) “one flesh” = __________

3)     God’s Warning (vv. 10-12) “adultery” = _________
