Appointments with God

“Doctrinal Discernment”

Jude 8-11

Monday, October 18th

Meditate upon the Deception of “Dreamers:”

  • Deuteronomy 13:1-5

Notice the words, “the LORD your God is testing you” in verse 3.  Who do you most often listen to?  Ask for God to give you a greater hunger for His Word!

Tuesday, October 19th

Meditate upon the Need for Godly Shepherds:

  • Jeremiah 23:1-4

Here is another instance of God pronouncing “woe” on spiritual leaders (Jude 11).  Pray for pastors and elders to “shepherd” God’s flock with Integrity and Truth.

Wednesday, October 20th

Meditate upon the Message of God’s Prophets:

  • Jeremiah 23:25-32

Don’t miss v. 28 – “but let him who has My Word speak My Word in truth.”  Pray for a Modern-day Reformation in the Church that it would return to and submit to the Sole Authority of God’s Word!!!

Thursday, October 21st

Meditate upon the Priority of the Word:

  • Jeremiah 23:33-37

The Key Question is “What has the LORD spoken?”  The E. Free Church always asked:  “Where stands it written?”  Begin to make God’s Word more priority in your own life as you read, study & treasure it!!!

Friday, October 22nd

Meditate upon the Famine of the Word:

  • Amos 8:11-12

Notice the prophet Amos said, “Days are coming…”  Do you think those days are here now- a “famine for hearing the words of the LORD?”  What would God have you to do?  Pray for His Wisdom & Discernment.

Saturday/Sunday, Oct. 23-24

Meditate upon the Problem of Itching Ears:

  • 2 Timothy 4:1-4

The Best Antidote for error is a mature understanding of the Truth!  Ask God to Guard your Heart against the desire to surround yourself with teachers who tell you only what you want to hear!  Keep the Faith!!
