“The Power of God for Salvation”

Romans 1:14-17

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power ofGod for salvation to everyone who believes…” Romans 1:16

I.  The GOSPEL of Jesus Christ  (Rom. 1:14-17)

There is much ____________ even among Evangelicals concerning the “Gospel.” The word “gospel” is used over ____ times in the N.T. and literally means “_______ ______.”  i.e.  “euangelion” There is only ONE “gospel of God” that is ___________ enough to save people for eternity.  i.e.  “dunamis”(1:16)

II.  CHANGING One Life at a Time (1 Th. 1:2-10)

Don’t confuse the “Gospel” with the _____________ of the Gospel.    i.e.  poverty; oppression; injustice When a person is truly saved by means of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, their life is __________ forever. (1:8-9) The lives of those around this person are ___________ with the Gospel thru a believer’s lips & changed life! God’s desire is for His Gospel to be proclaimed to all the __________, through the Church.  cf.  Lk. 24:45-49

Practical Application:

  1. Live the Gospel –  1 Thess. 1:5, 9
  2. Share the Gospel – 1 Thess. 2:3-4; 1 Cor. 9:16
  3. Guard the Gospel – 2 Tim. 1:14; 1 Tim. 6:20
